How Are You Doing?

How are you doing?
Where are your thoughts?
Does your heart become
heavy and overcome with
sadness?
Are you overwhelmed
with your weaknesses,
sins, and failures?

We all are so weak,
and feeble, and frail.
How frequently we find we fail and fail.
How we see our wrong attitudes,
hear our short words,
and feel our shortcomings,
and sink deep in sorrow.

Sad and sorrowful one,
can you see the Love of
your Father God?
Can you see His great
mercy and His tender compassion?
He knows you are weak,
He made your frame.
He is your potter
and you are His clay.

On the day that He made
you He had a plan to make
a way to take all of your
sin and remove it away.

It was His very own Son
who took all your sin
and bore all His wrath
that you would not live
separated from Him.
He bore all the weight
of your sin on Himself
a weight you were
never able to carry.
Jesus died in your place
and God
is now preparing
a space for youin His home
in the presence of His
beloved Son
and your
Savior Jesus
Christ the Lord.

Jesus paid the penalty.
There is now no debt to pay.
He bore the wrath of God
that He might give to us
in exchangethe righteousness of God.
What a gift.
What a God.
What a Savior.

Do you see the love of God
and your Savior?
Fix your eyes upon Him
and not on your sin.
Be sad no longer.
Wipe your eyes of
all of your sorrow.
There is One who came
to rescue you.
Rejoice in Him.
Thanks be to God that His Spirit
is now within you
and proclaim
this Good News
to all around you.
Be glad!
Rejoice!
Thank God!

This is the Love of God!
Jesus Christ
Came.
Lived.
Died.
Rose again that
we might have life
and life eternal! No longer
bound and
burdened with sin.

Romans 6:23
“…the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord”

Heavenly Father,
Help us, Lord God.
Help us remember the
love of Christ
and live in light of His love
for us.

Close in worship with
the praise song below.

Perhaps you have
never fully trusted in Christ
and what He has done
on your behalf.

Would you take a moment
now to honor Him
and consider His love
and His sacrifice?
If you would like
to know how to
seek the Lord for His mercy
and grace and
receive the Love of God through Jesus Christ
by trusting in Him as
your Savior and Lord
please call. We would love
to help and answer any
questions.

“The Love Of God”
Frederick M. Lehman, 1917

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure-
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race-
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

I don’t want to feel sad and alone any more. I’m almost 30 and alone for the first time in my life. I’ve been told to look to God for forgiveness and for guidance, any ideas where I should start?

    Thanks for your time,
    Jillian

      Dear Jillian,

Thank you so much for commenting. We are so glad you shared. The first place to seek the Lord is always in the Scriptures and in prayer. The Psalms are helpful in times of loneliness and distress and also provide good impetus for prayer. Also if you’re willing to share where you live (in a private email – see our contact page) we might be able to point you to a church that could minister to you locally (if you’re not already involved in a church). Of course, you are welcome always to simply call us. We would love the opportunity to pray with you. One last suggestion for reading material, something that might feed your soul, is Bob George’s, Growing in Grace.

Praying for you now and asking the Lord to make himself known to you as never before.
      Blessings,
      The Thistlebend team
